THE 4 C’S OF GRADING A DIAMOND

Color and Clarity

COLOR

Most diamonds, although appearing colorless, actually have slight tones of yellow or brown. As these tones become more easily apparent, the rarity and the cost decrease.

Clarity

CLARITY

Practically all diamonds contain naturally occurring internal characteristics called inclusions. The size, nature, location, and amount of inclusions determine a diamond's clarity grade. One unique advantage of the Martin's Masterpiece Diamond is that its intense sparkle can mask otherwise noticeable inclusions.

Cut

CUT

When a round brilliant diamond has been cut to precise angles and proportions, with superb symmetry and polish, visual patterns begin to merge. The Martin's Masterpiece diamond (ideal cut), with its fifty-eight exactly placed facets, produces a magnificent pattern of "Hearts and Arrows" when viewed through a special loupe. Each facet, acting as a tiny mirror, perfectly aligned, displays "Hearts and Arrows" with an explosion of scintillation, fire and brilliance unique to the Masterpiece Diamond.

Carat

CARAT WEIGHT

Diamonds are weighed in “carats.”  A one-carat diamond weights 1/5 of an ounce.  The value of two diamonds of the same weight can vary greatly depending in the color, clarity and especially the cut.
